Life Of Bootby ~FlewDesigns

The idea behind life of boot is from the film ‘Life Of Pie’. When I got home from the cinema I felt the need to express my interest in the movie by creating my own design in my own designer inspired way. The boot is completely random in terms of the film but the way I created it has some representation of the movie. The idea to place oars on the boot came from my compassion for Roman history and my interest in Roman Novels. One book by Ben Kane featured a trireme scene and the oars splashing against the turbulent waves. It was just plain obvious to place oars onto a boot to make it look like a rowing boat. The comparison between ‘Boot and Boat’ is ofcourse another incentive for the name. The technique used in this design is pretty straight forward apart from the application of light upon the water and the boot. If I would of done it again I would of chosen a different boot because it’s not the best quality but that’s what designers have to deal with when finding the most suitable stocks.
